As per the Australian Standards for warm water systems including TMVs where there is a reading of 10 or greater Legionella Count forming units (CFU) per milliliter the affected pipe work and plumbing fixtures MUST be isolated immediately and disinfection must be carried out ASAP. After the disinfection process, a water sampling MUST be taken again.
Super -Chlorination of the warm water lines, TMVs, and plumbing fixtures in no way guarantees that the Legionella will be controlled to a level lower than 10 cfu. Repeated treatment may be necessary, along with a permanent disinfection program.
